Image
The Test This issue starts off with Myrella wandering around the ruins of Neraka, specifically the Temple of Takhisis. She's not sure how she got there, but she soon hears the cry of someone trapped under some rubble. Poking around she uncovers the dark elf Kalthanan. As Myrella questions Kal, they are suddenly attacked by a pair of magic wielding draconians and then confronted by another draconian who reveals himself to be the red mage Az-araz-ar. Az then attacks Myrella and Kal destroys the red robe mage. Meanwhile in another dimension, Par-Salian and Ladonna discusses with Riverwind and Goldmoon what's going on. It's revealed that they were searching for "the lost tower of high sorcery" to retrieve it's ancient magics for all wizards. In finding the tower, they also found that the spirit of the renegade black robe wizard named Spyranus was within the tower. Also, it's revealed that they have unwittingly shown Spyranus the way back to Krynn. It's als...

Through the Eyes of Time This issue starts off with Myrella, Riverwind and Goldmoon on horseback discussing Raistlin. While Myrella sees the archmage as the personification of evil, while Goldmoon attempts to show the tragic side of Raistlin. Through her recounting of Raistlin's life, Goldmoon even draws parallels between the black robe mage and Myrella. Meanwhile, on some other plane of existence, Par-Salian is in restraints while being confronted by the spirit of a dead mage, bound to a lost tower of high sorcery. Back on Krynn, the three continue their discussion until they hear what seems to be the sound of a person crying out for help. Myrella recklessly rushes toward the sound only to be attacked by a pack of keches, which are handily defeat by the three travelers. Afterward, Goldmoon chides Myrella for her recklessness and warns that magic abilities only amplify flaws if the mage doesn't confront them. Once again, she compares Myrella to Raistlin, and they own quests for...

Comics - The Worlds of Dungeons and Dragons (Issue 2)

Cover A Cover B Dark Mirror (FR); The Legacy (DL) The second issue of this comic finishes up both stories stared in issue #1 . Once again, I won't go into too much detail on the Forgotten Realms story, other than to say that I liked this more than part one. There was more action and twists here, while the first part just seemed to be a straight chase. I didn't like the art for Nojheim (the goblin); he looked too much like Dobby from the Harry Potter books and movies. For the Dragonlance story, this issue picks up with Raistlin and Palin alone in the archmage's laboratory, while the portal to the abyss is still open, awaiting the arrival of Takhisis. In the laboratory, Raistlin tries manipulating his nephew to embrace the quest for magic power above all else, as Raistlin had done years before. On the other hand, Palin tries to convince his uncle to close the portal and come back to Solace with Caramon and himself. Raistlin reveals that he will keep the portal open and that h...

Comics - The Worlds of Dungeons and Dragons (Issue 1)

Cover A Cover B Dark Mirror (FR); The Legacy ( DL ) For this new comic series, Devil's Due Publishing , which have successfully adapted the Drizzt books from The Forgotten Realms setting as well The Chronicles and Legends trilogies from Dragonlance , took that same idea and applied it to an anthology series. Since there are literally hundreds of short stories published for the various D&D worlds (including Ravenloft , Spelljammer , and Dark Sun in addition to FR and DL ), they created this book as an outlet to adapt those works into comic form. For their first issue, they feature two of the most popular characters across all the D&D settings, Drizzt and Raistlin . Cover Art A might lead you to think that this would be some kind of "crossover" story featuring both characters, but a quick scan inside the book clearly shows that the two main characters are in two separate stories. This issue contains part 1 (of 2) of the FR story "Dark Mirror", which appe...

Dragonlance Inspired Music

The Dragonlance saga has inspired millions of fans imagination all around the world, as well as a few songs, including: " Raistlin and the Rose ", a song by Swedish metal band Lake of Tears "Wishmaster," a song by Finish Metal group Nightwish based partially on the relationship between Raistlin and Dalamar as a master and apprentice. " The Soulforged ", a song by German metal group Blind Guardian I'm not sure how well they stack up against Led Zepplin's " The Battle of Evermore " for songs inspired by fantasy literature, I'll let you be the judge...
