Wizard's Open Window About to Close

Image
Hopefully by now you are all well aware of Wizard's Open Window policy on submissions for the online publications. Just as hopefully, you've been working hard on your best ideas to send in (I know I've been kicking around two or three for the last month). Now if you haven't heard about the open window, check out the posting on their website about it here . It has all the info you need, including some helpful advice. For the rest of us, this is just a friendly reminder, that their window is fast approaching. It ends at the end of this month. So get those ideas in and help make D&D the best game it can be!

A Year's Worth of D&D

Big thanks to WolfStar76, who attended the 2010 Products Seminar at D&D Experience and jotted down some notes on what's coming out this year. 2010 Product Seminar Notes Some things have already been released, like Dragonborn and Underdark, but there's plenty of new items on the horizon, including all of the previously announced hints at GenCon 2009 . Since I'm still running a 3.5 game, my biggest interest is in the tile sets, particularly Harrowing Halls, the first 3D set, as well as the Dark Sun tile set (we can all use more dessert sets!), but I'm also interested in the Hammerfast location/adventure book and The Slaying Stone, a new 1st lv adventure. Maybe I'll be running some 4e before year's end... What new products are you looking forward to? Is there anything that's more interesting now that you might not have been so interested in before? Leave a comment and let me hear from you.

The Draconians are Coming, The Draconians are Coming

Pictures of the miniatures in the next D&D set, Legendary Evils , confirm that two creatures exclusively from the Dragonlance setting will be included. This new set will feature minis for both the Aurak and Sivak types of draconians. Previously, the Dragoneye set included minis for the Baaz and Kapak draconians. Now all I need is for them to create a Bozak figure to round out the set. Interestingly the Baaz and Kapak are the two weakest and the Aurak and Sivak are the two strongest, leaving the Bozak to suffer middle-child syndrome. Another exciting bit of news about draconians is that one of the new source books will include 4e stats for these creatures. I haven't heard yet if the book will also include rules to play Baaz and Kapak, like the 3.5 edition of Dragonlance did. All of these little bits are leading some to think that Dragonlance will be the new 4e setting for 2010 (last year was Forgotten Realms, this year is Eberron). While I hope it is Dragonlance, I wouldn't...

Twitter... Social Networking Tool or D&D Magic Item?

And here I thought Twitter was just for staying in contact with friends, coworkers, etc... seems it can also be one pretty cool magic item for the 4th edition of D&D: http://allgeektout.com/2009/06/24/gituot/

4th Edition vs "4th" Edition

With the upcoming release of the 4th Edition Dungeons & Dragons rule set, the web has been all abuzz about what the new game will have, what it won't have, and why you need it at your table... Along those lines Verys Arkon (not sure if that's a screen name or not) has compiled all the bits scattered here and there around the Internet on the new edition into a "lite" 4th Edition PHB pdf. On the other hand Paizo Publishing (recent home to Dragon and Dungeon magazines), and current publisher of the Pathfinder modules has announced their plan to continue supporting 3.5, with modifications. Their "4th" edition (or is that 3.75 edition?) product, the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game , recently released the free alpha version of their rule set. So let the dueling games begin... and call me when it's over. In the mean time, I gotta go out and get a Blu-Ray player .
